“Baltimore” – BHS Spring Play
April 9, 2016 @ 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm
The premiere production of “Baltimore,” a brand new play by local playwright Kirsten Greenidge.
Shelby is a busy student with plenty do outside of her responsibility to the students on her dormitory floor, but her plans are forced to change when a racially charged incident occurs on her watch. Suddenly her students demand she take sides. But choosing who to believe and how to act is complicated. Was the incident a joke? Or are its roots deeper than Shelby wants to admit? Does it speak to some part of the American experience which Shelby, despite being black, just does not know how to talk about? “Baltimore” explores the complexities of racism from the perspective of eight culturally diverse students.
Following in the footsteps of last year’s “Good Kids, Baltimore,” this is the second work of a New Play Initiative established by the Big Ten Theatre Consortium.
