In Land Ho! a pair of ex-brothers-in-law set off to Iceland in an attempt to reclaim their youth through Reykjavik nightclubs, trendy spas, and rugged campsites.
Written and directed by Martha Stephens and Aaron Katz this bawdy adventure is a throwback to 1980s road comedies, as well as a candid exploration of aging, loneliness, and friendship.
Talk Cinema is a film series offering its subscribers a unique presentation of quality films selected by film critic Harlan Jacobson, a 30-year industry veteran. Each series previews independent and foreign films before their release. Screenings are followed by discussions led by scholars, critics and filmmakers.
Some selections are meant to stretch the viewer’s perspective, some are meant to expand the viewer’s geopolitical horizons, and always to inform. New cinema is viewed as a peephole into new territory, whether it is cinematic, thematic, political or geographic.
Everyone is a critic: One of the program’s distinctive features is the opportunity for members to review films and to refer films to each other. This is a great way to deepen your film experience and connect with other cinephiles.
All Talk Cinema screenings take place on Sundays at 10am at the Coolidge.
