“Singet dem Herrn”
Sacred German Music for Double Choir
Saturday, April 9, 8:00pm
All Saints Parish, Brookline
To conclude Cecilia’s 2015–2016 season, we divide into two choruses to take a tour through three centuries of magnificent German music and sing some of the most glorious anthems, motets and choral songs written for double chorus.
Featuring J.S. Bach’s monumental motet, Singet dem Herrn, four sublime double chorus works by Schumann, and Brahms’s dramatic festive pieces, this concert provides a great introduction to unaccompanied German choral music from the 17th to the 19th centuries.
Organ solos by Bach and Brahms will complement the choral selections.
