Visions of the American West – Photograpy by Jody Sinclair
My current group of photographs represents my fascination with the American West along with my love and admiration for the horse. By the time I was eight years old, I had decided I wanted to be a cowgirl and an artist. Realizing early on that I actually couldn’t draw, horses became my world, until the age of 13 when I was given my first camera and finally found the means for my artistic expression.
In 2013 I traveled to Santa Fe, NM to do a workshop with Tony Stromberg, a phenomenal equine photographer. It was the first time I had ever truly been immersed in the lifestyle of the American West, and it changed me forever. I was captivated by the herds of horses running freely on thousands of acres and the cowboys and ranch hands who rode along side them. Several of my NM pieces were included in the “Cowgirls With A Camera” exhibition at the Desert Caballeros Western Museum in AZ in 2014.
