Anyone Can Draw

January 10 @ 12:00 pm – 3:30 pm

Instructor: Amy Browning

We will work with pencils and graphite sticks on paper to learn to “see” what you are looking at. After a few excercises we will have fun making several drawings with the option to experiment with washes. You will take home a graphite pencil of your choice, a small wash brush, and two types of erasers along with your drawings.

Agenda/Topics Covered

When you think about it, drawing is really just a way to “draw” from what you see in the world around you from your own unique perspective. This workshop will use the simplest of all drawing tools, graphite (pencil) and paper, to demonstrate basic principles of understanding what you see in a way that can be marked on paper. We will also try some washes. We will work from still life as well as photographs. If you have a photo that you want to try to make a drawing from, please bring it in printed out on paper or email or text the picture to me and I will print it at the studio. You will be able to experiment with Blackwing, Papermate, or graphite sticks and I encourage the active use of erasers. All materials provided. You will come away with reassurance and several quite lovely drawings of your own! Anyone can draw!
