Intro to Cyanotype Workshop – The Basics

January 11 @ 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Instructor: Peg O’Connell

In this fun 3 hour in person workshop, we will learn about the process of making cyanotypes. Sometimes referred to as sun prints or blueprints, cyanotype is a 19th century photographic printing process that uses UV light to create a cyan blue print. Students will learn about the history of the process, as well as learn how to compose their images on precoated paper and expose prints. During the winter months, we will use indoor sources of UV light; during the summer months we will use either the sun or indoor sources of UV Light – depending on the weather. Paper and materials are included yet students are encouraged to bring flat objects, feathers, pressed flowers or any other object that interests them for creating cyanotypes. No previous experience required. A $30 materials fee per student is included in the tuition.
